The Ex Lover Blocker App

without comments

exblocker_th

Content blocking apps are growing in popularity. You can block football scores to be able to watch the game later (see Heineken) or you can decide to block ads that promote impossible beauty (see Dove). Now, you can also help those friends who recently were dumped by their girlfriends and can’t help trying to call them back to prolong the humiliation. In Brazil, Guaraná Antarctica has launched an amusing Ex-Lover Blocker App that will prevent your friends from dialing their Ex number. If they ignore the block, the world will make fun of them on social media. Evil, but cool.

I don’t know if I’m posting this because I think it is a good brand activation, or just because I love the video that promotes the App itself. Please watch it below and help me finding an answer…

The agency is DM9DDB Brazil.

bedroom switch-a-roo…

This PSA may make your skin crawl… or at least make these guys really uncomfortable.

We all know the damaging effects that sun can have on your skin. The Belgian Cancer Foundation, wanted to reach a young audience and shed some light on the consequences of not protecting their skin. When they couldn’t get through to the ladies they targeted their boyfriends. This was done with the midnight switch-a-roo. Boyfriends went to bed with their girlfriends, but were shocked when they were awakened to find themselves in bed with their girlfriends mom. The message, “make sure your girlfriend protects herself against the sun or she’ll start looking like her mom far too soon.”

Axe: new generation boyfriends

without comments

axe_girls

I love the new global campaign for Axe Shower Gel created by BBH London. For once the usual sexist Axe approach (which, to be honest, sometimes I do find amusing) is replaced by the “celebration” of a new generation of boyfriends willing to do anything to please their girlfriends and conquer their hearts (yes, I’m being sarcastic). Of course the girls are portrayed in a stereotyped and extreme way (basically they are all rather bitchy in their own way) but I still think that, in the end the sense of humor in the five commercials prevails, and gives justice more to nowadays’ strong personality girls than to the Axe men.

Curious to know what you think…

Reebok Pulls Ad Urging Guys to Cheat on Their Girlfriends

without comments

A German Reebok ad that advised patrons of the brand's partner gyms to "Cheat on your girlfriend, not on your workout" has been pulled after complaints from probably every woman in Germany. And rightfully so. The ad makes Reebok look like a bunch of dumb bros, and it's not funny or clever enough to defend as an example of anti-PC humor. Who do they think they are, Ashley Madison?
